As brands such as OnePlus and Huawei already launching new handsets with Android 10 preloaded, Motorola has only just realized that its Moto Z2 Play may be due an OS update. Released back in 2017, the Moto Z2 Play has been languishing on Android Oreo but now it's finally getting its a slice of Android Pie goodness.
Gone are the days when Motorola was one of the leading lights when it came to timeous firmware updates, nowadays it's one of the worst offenders. But, despite ragging on Lenovo for the slackness of its update strategy, it's important to remember that this is actually good news for Moto Z20 Play owners. The update will bring the usual Android Pie features to the Moto Z2 Play, bringing with it a more up-to-date security patch as well.
The update will roll out incrementally, with devices in Brazil being the first to receive the Android Pie OTA, with other markets following suit in the weeks following.
If you are still using a Moto Z2 Play, it's worth your time to keep an eye out for the OTA notification popping up on your handset in the coming weeks.
