When Razer announced the original Razer Phone, it was up in the air how well they'd do with software updates. Razer isn't a phone company, and their purchase of Nextbit was the only thing that really got them into the market. Up to this point, those software updates have been pretty lackluster, with the original Razer Phone still using its latest update from July of last year.
The good news, though, is that Razer has chimed in on their own subreddit to let everyone know that the Android Pie upgrade is slated to come to the Razer Phone in the next few weeks.
And that is good news, really; a year without an update is way too long for a phone that costs as much as the Razer Phone did. But realistically, this is probably going to be the last update that the phone sees, including security patches or major software upgrades. Android Q is going to be a pipe dream.
And that's pretty disappointing, considering how long Nokia is managing to update some of their phones despite costing a fraction of what Razer charges.
