After acknowledging the need for a redesigned Android app years ago, and rolling out an updated design to select users in late 2018, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel has now claimed the redesign will go live to the entire public by the year's end.
The Android Snapchat app has been outdated and complained about for years, with camera quality issues, bugs, and general issues reported by annoyed users.
Snap has been looking at addressing the issue for a good two years since the company went public, yet has achieved little since announcing a redesign in early 2017 save releasing a new app to a select few users late last year.
Now, however, at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference on Monday, Snap's young CEO Evan Spiegel announced plans to roll out the redeveloped Android application to all users by 2019's end.
Spiegel cites Android as “absolutely critical to our strategy”, which you might expect since it comprises the majority of the world's devices.
Unfortunately there are no real details on the redesign at this time other than its timeline.
