Nanoleaf shows off hexagon light panels at CES 2019 4

In case you missed it, lighting up our homes is a business that a lot of companies seem to want to get into. The convergence of networking capabilities, AI assistants, and general lighting technology has resulted in an explosion of companies and products that hope consumers will opt for their solution. One of the more innovative pieces of hardware on the market are light panels from Nanoleaf. These are flat panels that can be mounted on a wall to provide lighting in a room as opposed to bulbs that have to live in some hardware like a lamp. At CES 2019, Nanoleaf is showing off some hexagon shaped light panels that will be available before the end of 2019.

The new panels from Nanoleaf will follow in the footsteps of the previously released shapes – triangles and squares. All of the panels are capable of changing colors and are touch-sensitive. They can also be controlled via voice commands with assistants like Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant.

Nanoleaf has not yet decided on a name for the panels that sport the new hexagon shape nor have they revealed any expected pricing information. Some sources believe Nanoleaf hopes this product will appeal to buyers who may be interested in something a bit more unusual than squares and triangles. One potential market will be consumers who are heavily into gaming as hexagons are frequently used in games, so the tiles may help bring a bit of that vibe into the home.

Do you find wall-mounted lighting panels an attractive solution that might find a place in your place?
