Huawei isn't the only one breaking records, as Google has officially crossed the 1 billion download threshold with their video calling app, Duo. It did it just in time for the end of 2018, too.
Part of the reason why Duo has hit such high numbers is because it's a pre-installed application for new Android devices, but there's still clearly some consumer enthusiasm behind the app. Google Allo, on the other hand, was also a poster child for Google messaging apps on Android devices, and no one cared and now Google's going to kill it. So let's be fair to Duo and give it some of the credit it deserves.
That's also good news for anyone invested in Duo, since you know it won't be on the chopping block anytime soon. At least until Google rolls out a new video chatting app in 2021, anyway.
