Earlier this year Google announced a new feature for their Google Photos services called Live Albums. When initially released, Live Albums came with a limit of 10,000 photos and videos. In a recent change, Google has bumped that limit up to 20,000 items, which matches the limit on shared albums.
Live Albums are private albums that hold a consistent set of images or videos and get shared with a predetermined set of other users automatically. For instance, one could specify an album for pictures of their pets and share it as a Live Album with the rest of their family members. Going forward, when a user takes a picture of their pet, Google will automatically add it to that Live Album and by being in that album, the other users instantly have access to the new picture.
Although 10,000 images, the initial limit set by Google, sounds like a lot, there were a surprising number of users that were bumping up against that limit finding themselves unable to add new images. Google's move to change the limit should help with that.
Just in case you are wondering how many images you have in total on Google Photos, you can go to your Google Dashboard and scroll down to the apps to find that information.
