Samsung Galaxy P30 gets detailed, including size and color options, plus an in-screen fingerprint scanner 2

If you've been with us for a few years, you've probably seen that Samsung occasionally likes to test out new features in mid-range, non-flagship devices. Galaxy Alpha, anyone?

Looks like that's what we're going to see again with the Galaxy P30, rumored to be Samsung's first device with a fingerprint scanner under the screen. But we've also gotten some confirmation on a few other bits of the hardware that will power the P30.

Aside from an LCD screen to make the optical fingerprint scanner work, the P30 will come in either 64GB or 128GB storage options and in blue, pink, black, and red color choices. They'll also use a gradient color scheme, not unlike what we've seen from Huawei. Even that P30 name sounds Huawei-ish, honestly.

And on that note, the P30 will likely launch in China first to try and give some competition to other Chinese manufacturers that have gained a ton of ground on Samsung in recent years. This particular device will be using an optical fingerprint scanner instead of the more accurate (and more expensive) ultrasonic scanner that we're anticipating in the Galaxy S10, but it'll certainly give Samsung some time to fine-tune their software for the inclusion of more biometric security.
