Although HTC continues to struggle in the smartphone market and ended up entering into an agreement with Google that sort of saw the company's smartphone division get sold to Google, they still try to be a leader in many ways. One of those is a commitment to getting Android updates out as quickly as possible, especially for their newer devices, and keeping customers updated. That pans out today, Cyber Monday, when HTC will make the Android Oreo update available for the unlocked version of the HTC U11.
HTC previously announced the HTC U11, HTC 10, HTC U Ultra and HTC U11 Life will receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update. HTC's vice president for product management, Mo Versi, indicates in several tweet replies over the weekend that the company is working hard to get the update out for those devices as quickly as possible.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. The Oreo OS update will be available for download on the HTC u11 unlocked version starting on Monday! Enjoy!

For the HTC U11 update, the update will only apply for right for the unlocked version. Versi indicated that at least one carrier specific model – the Sprint version – is coming soon and that HTC is working closely with Sprint to make it happen. Presumably HTC is working with the other major carriers as well.
If you have an unlocked HTC U11, head to All apps -> Settings -> About -> Software information to check for the update. HTC is rolling it out in phases.
