Plex announced yesterday that they are rolling out a new addition to their service called Plex News. The new feature provides a variety of video news sources that can be accessed through Plex in addition to what users have in their own media library. Plex News is more than just access to different sources of news. Plex has built in AI that they say will learn what news you are interested in and like and will customize the news feed for you.
According to Plex, part of the impetus for this addition was born on their acquisition of Watchup. That addition to Plex not only brought the AI technology to personalize the news feed, Watchup brought along over 150 content producers they had partnered with as news sources. Plex has increased that number to over 190 partners and they are continuing work to expand on that number. Plex also says they are working hard to ensure the sources available are both global and local in nature as well as from a wide swath of the political spectrum. Some of the source include CBS, CNN, C|NET, Financial Times, The Blaze, and others.

Plex News will be rolling out to all users over a period of 48 hours starting with Plex Pass subscribers. Plex says this new option will be supported on Android TV, NVIDIA SHIELD, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku, Android Mobile and iOS. Other platforms will be added. For Plex users and subscribers, there is no additional fee as Plex News will be ad-supported.
