T-Mobile's Digits finally launches on May 31st 1

You might remember Digits as that really cool feature that T-Mobile announced late last year, then went totally silent about. It went into beta after being announced, but we haven't heard much about it since then. Well, the good news is that T-Mobile is finally ready to talk about it again, since it's officially launching to everyone on May 31st.

Starting next Wednesday, all T-Mobile phone numbers will automatically be upgraded to Digits, with the option to purchase an additional Digits number for just $10 per month. This means your T-Mobile number can be used on pretty much any internet-connected device, including a tablet, a PC with a web browser, or even another smartphone. This opens up a ton of flexibility to allow users to send text messages when they don't necessarily have their phone on them, but there are some significant privacy and business implications here, too.

Since you can have multiple Digits on your T-Mobile account, you can use your extra phone numbers on your existing phone. That means you can ditch the second phone and just give out your extra Digits number to potential business customers, new dating partners, or anyone else that you might not want to have your personal phone number. And since you can drag those numbers anywhere you want, you can technically even use your spare on a Verizon phone, since all you'll need is the data connection.

This is easily one of the best ways to keep a number on all of your devices, passing even what Apple pulls off with iMessage and FaceTime. And fortunately for you, you'll only have to wait another week to get to try it out.
