OnePlus confirms Snapdragon 835 for OnePlus 5 3

One of the next highly anticipated flagship devices poised to hit the market this summer is the OnePlus 5. Early rumors suggest OnePlus has decided to try to go toe-to-toe with industry heavyweights like LG and Samsung by giving the new device all the best components. We are still waiting for the big reveal on just what will be included, but the company has confirmed the OnePlus 5 will come equipped with the Snapdragon 835 processor.

Pete Lau, CEO for OnePlus, took to the company's forum to make this announcement regarding the top of the line processor. Sadly, he did not confirm any of the other hardware components in the forthcoming device. Lau did spend considerable time on other performance-enhancing features that buyers of the OnePlus 5 will enjoy.

One area the company hopes the OnePlus 5 will impress customers with is touch latency. As Lau explains, the company's engineers noticed scrolling could differ between phones and wanted to address this to ensure a “seamless user experience.” The engineers ended up having to create their own experiments using high-speed cameras to measure inputs, speed, and movements.

The OxygenOS used on OnePlus devices also saw some attention aimed at improving speed and responsiveness. One way this will be achieved is by keeping frequently used apps ready to go as soon as the device is turned on and deprioritizing rarely used apps.

Everyone is still guessing as to when the OnePlus 5 will be announced, but the odds seem strong for a June date especially now that the OnePlus CEO is starting to confirm bits of the actual hardware to be included in the device.
