Google Duo skyrockets to 50 million downloads in the Play Store 2

Google Duo has seen some high praise, unlike its counterpart Allo. The numbers really show how people have flocked to Duo, too. As of today, Duo on the Play Store is showing a whopping 50 million downloads.

Of course, it's worth keeping in mind that 50 million downloads doesn't necessarily mean 50 million active users; however, there's likely a substantial amount. Some of these “downloads” might not all be necessarily from the interest of users, as Google is including Duo as a native app on many new smartphones.

But, between Allo and Duo, Duo is definitely the more quality application. Downloads are only increasing, and it's getting more attractive features as time goes on, such as voice-only calls.

Here's to another 50 million!

  1. how? what??? I don’t even see any similarity between these two apps. allo allows my galaxy 5 to work with google home & IFTTT for other apps. duo does not provide that. why the comparison?

    1. Because they are both personal communication apps and have been marketed by Google from the beginning as two sides of a coin. Duo for video calls, Allo for your chat needs.

  2. it’s not just new phones, it’s also pushed with Nougat roms, I never installed duo, but since my p9 plus got it’s 7.0 update, it’s suddenly installed, can’t uninstall either
