Verizon announced today that they are brining their HD Voice service and capabilities to prepaid customers who have smartphones that support the service. The new HD Voice capability will be turned on for prepaid customers starting this Sunday, September 25th.

Verizon's HD Voice service is actually a bundle of several features. Of course, the most prominent one that Verizon will say is the audio quality of calls made with the service, especially if the person on the other end of the line also has an HD Voice capable device. Verizon says the audio will be so clear it is “like you're talking face-to-face.”

Speaking of face-to-face, another capability that comes with HD Voice is the ability to make video calls, which can be initiated with a single tap. Users can also make calls over wi-fi, setup 6-way calling, and users can surf the web or otherwise use the Internet at the same time they are carrying on an HD Voice call.

Verizon says they have more than two dozen phones that are capable of supporting HD Voice, primarily late model iOS and Android devices.
