The Galaxy Note 7 could get Android 7.0 Nougat in “two to three months,” according to Samsung mobile head Koh Dong-jin.

In other words, those who plan on picking up a Galaxy Note 7 are looking at getting the latest Android version loaded on their new smartphone by November at the latest.

From Dong-jin:

“It is very important for us to offer up-to-date information with the new OS, but what's more crucial is to build a stable and seamless platform for users. That's why we are planning to do enough beta testing before any OS updates.”

The idea of getting Nougat on the Galaxy Note 7 in just three months is thrilling, but there's a lot of details left out. For instance, Samsung's three month timeline is probably for a test run in smaller markets, where they'll eventually push out to even larger regions.

On the other hand, Galaxy Note 7 handsets on carriers like AT&T and Verizon likely won't see it for a good while because of all the red tape the update has to go through.

Suffice to say, Nougat could certainly be available for Unlocked models in three months. But, many will still run into the problem of waiting on carrier's to approve the update before pushing it out to its users.

Updates like these truly are a cycle of insanity. It'll be interesting to see how long it'll take the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge to get Nougat, or even the Galaxy S6, if at all.
