Samsung Gear VR (8)

Samsung's newly announced Gear VR headset is now available to purchase in the United States for $99 with free shipping.

The new Gear VR was created in collaboration with Oculus and is the first virtual reality headset from the company that can be purchased by anyone. The headset uses your Samsung smartphone to create the immersive experience using your phone's microUSB port as the connection. Once connected you'll be able to watch sporting events, games and view content in 360 degrees. Currently, the headset is compatible with the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5. However, for some models it will require a carrier update. The product is listed to ship in 7-10 business days. Anyone buying one?

        1. I used it at the Galaxy Note 4 launch back in September 2014 and thought it was really cool. Samsung’s displays are a perfect match for virtual reality.

          1. One thing I have noticed is it does fog up at the beginning and supposedly it has a built in fan to prevent this from happening. Also, it has heated up too while using it, and I didn’t believe I was doing anything intense. Maybe it was the downloading or streaming. My 72 year old mother also thinks it’s amazing!
