Google is in the process of rolling out a rather appealing update for its Play Movies & TV application via the Play Store. This upgrade brings the standard Material Design makeover that the search engine giant has been distributing to its full suite of Android apps over the course of the past few weeks, in addition to a new interactive menu that’s displayed on either a smartphone or tablet when casting content.
Now when a user casts a movie or show to their TV via Chromecast or the brand new Nexus Player, a series of “cards” will be displayed on their mobile device, presenting them with a whole host of relevant information, including the names of the main actors/actresses appearing in each scene of the film, details on songs that are currently playing, Wikipedia extracts relating to when the film/program was first aired and, lastly, who it was scripted and directed by.
As part of the Material Design makeover, Google has implemented a “Watch Now” tab within the application, which, according to the company, “makes the experience of finding a movie as pleasant as watching the movie itself.”
The update is being rolled out in stages, and you can see if it's ready for your device by clicking the download link below.
