plex-infographicPlex has announced today a plan to raise its subscription prices next week. Thankfully, the boost is only in effect for new subscribers set up after September 29, so your current account is in no danger of being billed higher in October. The monthly rate has increased from $3.99 to $4.99, the yearly from $29.99 to $39.99, and the lifetime from $74.99 to$149.99. These increases range from a simple $10-12 a year to a complete doubling of price for the lifetime subscription.

If you've never heard of Plex before, it's a media server that stores all of your media–pictures, videos, audio–and streams it to virtually any device and OS, including Apple TV, Chromecast, and Roku. What sets Plex apart from competition is its commitment to provide the most efficient, user friendly media experience by giving you whatever media you want how you want it. Subscribers receive added benefits, like multi-user support.

So, are you going to quickly snag a lifetime subscription before it doubles in price? Or maybe just get on a monthly subscription plan and save a few bucks a year? Leave a comment below and let us know your experiences with Plex.
