New hardware and software isn't all Apple has launching this week. Tim Cook, the chief executive officer, personally wrote a new privacy statement located on the company's site. In it, there are jabs at other tech firms and Google is seemingly the prime target. Unlike other tech firms, Cook states that Apple treats users as customers and not a product.
Here is a portion of the new privacy statement:
“We’re publishing this website to explain how we handle your personal information, what we do and don’t collect, and why. We’re going to make sure you get updates here about privacy at Apple at least once a year and whenever there are significant changes to our policies.
A few years ago, users of Internet services began to realize that when an online service is free, you’re not the customer. You’re the product. But at Apple, we believe a great customer experience shouldn’t come at the expense of your privacy.
Our business model is very straightforward: We sell great products. We don’t build a profile based on your email content or web browsing habits to sell to advertisers. We don’t “monetize” the information you store on your iPhone or in iCloud. And we don’t read your email or your messages to get information to market to you. Our software and services are designed to make our devices better. Plain and simple.”
That last paragraph is where Cook and Apple are clearly targeting Google. Since its entire business is essentially based on advertising revenue, there is much debate as to what Google does with users' information. With things like Gmail and Chrome, Google does have the keys to all of your habits. We just do not know what exactly Google does with the keys.
Is it fair that Tim Cooks points the finger at someone else right after iCloud was breached? Let us know in the comments.
Apple’s innovation died along with Steve Jobs IMO
You all are funny.
Apple is a company that looks to make a profit. So is Google, Samsung, HTC, Motorola, and any other Android phone maker. Yes, Apple costs more, but they have more overhead.
It is said that Apple is just following Google, but Google has yet to introduce 64bit processing in their phones. Android phones are just coming out with fingerprint scanning, when Apple has had it for a while now. That is not following.
Yes, Apple is finally getting on board with larger screens. They are late to the party on that front.
Yes, Apple Pay is arriving long after Google introduced Wallet. But Google Wallet has not caught on yet. Apple got the larger banks on board with them before introducing it. I believe that Apple Pay will have a lot more success than Google Wallet or any other digital wallet because of that fact
Now before you call me an Apple Fanboy, or iSheep, my first smartphone was a Droid X, my second smartphone is a Galaxy Nexus, and my first tablet was the ASUS Transformer 201. The Droid X was obsolete and no longer upgradable in less than 1 year, the ASUS is slow with choppy game play, and the Galaxy Nexus was unsupported in less than 2 years from Google. My tablet of choice is an iPad Air which is very fast and smooth. Apple is still upgrading phones iOS that were released before the Galaxy Nexus. The last 2 Nexus devices that Google offered are not available on my phone provider (Verizon).
So in my eyes, Apple just does it better. Now that they have a larger screen, I will be getting an iPhone. Yes it is more expensive, but there is a value for a good user experience. That is my opinion
I think that everyone should buy what they are comfortable with. IF you like Android better, good for you. If you like Apple better, good for you. That is why we have a free enterprise system, you can get what you want.
Have a good day all
Well fingerprint tech came out on Android first and it flopped so other manufacturers didn’t pick up on it. Then Apple decided to do it and then it appears Android manufacturers just add it as a side thought just in case it did matter to the customer. All you got is the 64-bit really in your argument here.
The ghost you know…
Google is an ad company, plain and simple. What they offer for free, I do not mind using in exchange for my use case. There are more predictors of human behavior than Google and I am not so much a fan of those. I benefit from what I share, and no one is knocking down my door for liking videos about cats.
Apple is a greedy money grubbing entity that uses its customers like sheep. They shave them, wait for it go grow back, and shave them again. Deluding consumers into believing they have a new and unique product is just deceptive. It’s business, but it’s not nearly as warm-fuzzy as they wish to portray.
At least the Goog is making stuff to advance society instead of simply profiting from it.
Tim Cook made some very specific points in the new policy statement.
It’s noticeable that nobody anywhere is trying to address them. Just distract from them.
Cook go and sit down somewhere. Ur done.
Cook, what a charmless characterless individual. What have Apple done under his leadership? Copy every Android feature and just about nothing else
The cost of the iPhone is nothing short of extortion, and how he can lecture about security after the icloud debacle?
What a complete puller.
I’m quivering, his words hurt me so. Tim, worry about your security issues and get the fck off our ass. ”Big screens will never sell”.
Apple and this second hand S.Jobs called Cook is just rediciolous! The have nothing left to spot over its competitor or to go to court, to cry there because the fail to attract most of the people. With their 2 years behind iphone 6 shit, they will fail again. And thats sooooo goooood!
