Android comes up on iOS in the US in latest Kantar report

android-vs-apple-eyelkAndroid has gained some ground in the US according to the latest report from consumer analytics firm Kantar Worldpanel. According to the latest metrics, Android has gained over 11 points of market share in a year's time for a three month period ending in July. Much of this gain comes from iOS. The Apple OS saw a 11.8 point drop in the same period. 

Mexico broke 80 percent in growth with a 17.6 point increase over the three month period that ended in July 2013. Android also gained 8.4 points from Apple, that lost 5.6 points and from Windows phone that lost 1.5 points, topping at 84.6 percent in China.

Xiaomi and Huawei contributed to the increase in Asia with Xiaomi boasting a 31.6 percent marketshare in China. ZTE, Lenovo and Oppo all saw decreases in their shares.

As far as European markets are concerned, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK all saw Android grow in market share. Samsung's Galaxy S 5 attributed  to 11.5 percent of all handset sales in the UK, making it the best selling device in the country.

Great Britain, Italy and Spain saw a boost in Windows Phone sales, thanks in part to the Lumia 630 and 930.
