We are just under 2 weeks away from the unveiling of the Galaxy Note 4, and we have some info regarding the camera. First of all, Samsung is finally going to implement optical image stabilization (OIS) as part of a 16 MP Sony IMX240 sensor. This same sensor appeared on the Korean Galaxy S 5 LTE-A, but it did lack OIS. This sensor will also be able to shoot UHD video (3840 x 2160) at 30 FPS. Samsung will also upgrade the front-facing camera to 3.7 MP, which is still lower than many flagships.

What about software? You know Samsung is going to offer a slew of new things right? For starters, it appears they will implement something called “Side Touch,” which is a sensor at the bottom right of the device. It won' be an actual shutter button, but you will be able to tap that area to capture images. There are a few limitations in that it won't work when taking photos in portrait mode, nor will it work when capturing video.

Samsung is also going to add a new gesture to the lock screen in that you can tap the screen with two fingers while swiping them apart to gain quick access to the camera.

Camera modes are always aplenty, and the Note 4 will be no exception. However, this time around the new modes will center around selfies. They are adding Selfie, Wide Selfie, and Selfie Alarm. They are also adding a non selfie-centric mode called Create A GIF File, which is probably a rebranding of Animated Photo. Of course, all the older modes and effects will still be available on the Note 4.

I think the biggest news here is the addition of OIS. It's very possible that the Note 4 will wind up being the best phone for capturing photos. What do you guys think?
