Motorola's most anticipated device of the year, codenamed Shamu, has shown up on the GFX Benchmark database. Although the results weren't complete, the scores are fairly similar with other devices running Snapdragon 801's. The results showed that Shamu will sport a 1080p screen, and rumors have led us to believe that the size of the screen could be anywhere from a normal size, like 5-inches, to phablet size, like 6-inches.

Although many are calling Motorola's Shamu the Nexus 6, others are denying the evidence due to the belief that simply increasing the processor from a Snapdragon 800 to an 801 is not acceptable for the next (and maybe final) iteration of the Nexus line, desiring a phone with a Snapdragon 805 and 64-bit processing capabilities.

What do you think? Is Shamu the Nexus 6, or are you really hoping for something more?

  1. If they keep the specs generally the same as last year (1080p and Snap 801) they can keep the price the same and add more storage or upgrade the hardware maybe with metal or a fingerprint scanner. No one thinks the Nexus 5 has bad specs so it should be fine.

    1. True, but at the rate the tech industry is moving, similar specs between years leaves a device in the dust. Imagine a suped-up Nexus 4 being released last year instead of the Nexus 5. That would cause an uproar, especially since Google is supposed to be setting the bar each year with their Nexus line.

      1. Yeah, but no one ever complained about the nexus 5’s performance. Giving Google one year of leeway (Idk if that’s the right word…) could help make the Nexus 2015 amazing. Still, I’m sure a ton of spec heads want the Nexus 2014 to have extreme top of the line specs.

        1. No one complained because the 5 was a huge upgrade. Taking a break in tech and lagging behind is never a good way to get ahead. Spec head or not, Android fans need a powerful Nexus every year.
