It looks like Verizon will continue to push the DROID branded handsets. Last year's models featured mostly the same specs as the Moto X other than display sizes and storage options. Motorola will probably unveil the Moto X+1 in about a month so that means the new DROIDs will probably get announced around the same time.

A lot of people were disappointed when they heard the Moto X and DROIDs sported the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro as part of the Mobile X8 Computing System. This year, things are a little different. It looks like the DROID MAXX and DROID Mini are confirmed to sport the Snapdragon 801, which is found on all the flagships so far this year. Assuming there will be a DROID Ultra again, I think it's safe to assume it will also sport the same processor, as well as the Moto X+1.

Incidentally, the internal codename for the DROID MAXX is Abbagoochie and the DROID MINI is Valocia. Not sure if that's worth anything to you, but it was reported along with the leak.

Does this news make your more likely to jump on the Moto bandwagon this year?
