As the @DroidLanding Twitter account said it would, the ‘Droid Combat: Mission Alpha' augmented reality application was released to the Play Store today. It looks pretty interesting and it's a neat concept, and while the video mentions that there are “90 days until world domination occurs,” it's unlikely that this means anything regarding a new phone. This “hint” (if you want to call it that) would place any kind of  new phone launch in late-September, which seems like a pretty far way from now— especially because the buzz from this game is not expected to last more than a month. But Verizon could always prove us wrong of course— after all, the last time they did something like this, the release of the Droid Bionic followed. Check out the link to the game in the Play Store after the break if you want to download this 50MB chunk of data to your device.
