Sony Xperia S all set for Canadian debut (or is it?) 5

Sony
has really upped its game this year as it looks to go toe-to-toe with Android kingpins Samsung, HTC and Motorola. The latest flagship device, the Xperia S, was revealed to the world at the CES show back in January and the device is picking up critical acclaim throughout the tech world. It seemed this morning that Canada would be the next country to pick up the device as the Sony Mobile Facebook page posted the above image early this morning.  The admittedly genuine looking advert suggested that Xperia S is ‘coming soon' to Rogers Canada  however all may not be as it seems. Just as quickly as the image was posted it disappeared again in a cloud of mystery.

Canadian tech site MobileSyrup contacted Rogers who confirmed that while the device will certainly be compatible with its network, there are no specific plans to offer it directly. It looks like any Canadian Xperia S fans might need to pick up this new flagship device sim-free.

Just in case you'd forgotten, The Xperia S boasts a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, a 4.3″ 720p display, and a market leading 12MP camera. The device ships with Android 2.3 Gingerbread however Ice Cream Sandwich will follow shortly thereafter. Definitely a device worth getting your hands, whether it's sim-free or otherwise!
