How to use My Magazine on the Galaxy Note 3

My Magazine is Samsung’s take on HTC’s BlinkFeed, and it also appears to be a Flipboard fork. It’s accessed by swiping up from one of your homescreens or by pressing the home button while you are on your main home screen. You will also find Flipboard pre-installed on the Note 3, but don’t be mistaken, this is a completely separate app. My Magazine offers a more simplified approach to adding content to your stream as in you can’t fine tune exact sites to follow.

It has 4 categories: News, Personal, Here and Now, and Social. “News” consists of everything from politics, sports, technology, food, etc. “Personal” consists of your calendar, gallery, emails, scrapbook, etc. “Here and Now” is all about local events and “Social” includes your social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, and more. You can quickly switch between these main categories by swiping right or left. My Magazine works very well for those that are new to using a news aggregator.

Hit the break for my video showing you how it works and be sure to check out our other Galaxy Note 3 guides.

About the Author: Robert Nazarian

Robert lives in upstate New York where he was born and raised. Technology was always his passion. His first computer was a Radio Shack TRS80 Color that used a cassette tape to save programs, and his first laptop was a Toshiba T1200FB that sported a CGA greyscale screen and two 720kb floppy drives (no hardrive). From the early 90’s through late 2011, he only owned Motorola phones starting with the MircroTAC all the way through to the Droid X. He broke that streak when he bought the Galaxy Nexus. Now he's sporting a Galaxy Note 4, and absolutely loves it. He has a wonderful wife and a 6 year old son. In his free time he enjoys sports, movies, TV, working out, and trying to keep up with the rapid fast world of technology.

as I understand it Facebook is still missing from the My Magazine app

    • Marc

I just got a note 3 and I did not see facebook on this app.

      • Craig

Yep, and the news is it will not be added anytime soon, which kind of makes the app …. useless!
Apparently, the pre-release version did include Facebook, but Samsung has issues with Facebook and as a result no licence to use it. Better off just using Flipboard in my opinion. Which is also crazy as the guys at Flipboard made My Magazine for Samsung. Go figure!

the language on my note 3 is English but my magazine is reflecting French. How do l fix this

    • jason

I have the same issue, mine is fixed in Spanish, any ideas welcome!

      • Roxio

So is mine. Stuck in spanish. any help with be greatful…

        • guest

I had the same problem. Just changing the language settings didn’t fix anything. Good news: go to the app manager, (under ‘all apps’, not ‘downloaded apps’) and clear the data and cache.

            GREAT! many thanks

I have the same problem, where My Magazine on my Note 3 is displaying in French, but my language settings on my Note 3 are set to English (United States). Someone please help.

This app is annoying! It keeps popping up trying to get me to create an account when I don’t want to. If we can’t uninstall how do you disable it?

    • dolores

I hate it I think I deleted it but it’s still pops up and stalls my phone hate it. Please reply

The team that developed this app and put in on my awesome SGN3 should be Shot, Tarred, Feathered, Drawn and quartered, and their end trails set on fire. What a horrible POS app. It literally tracks every text, call, WEB search, EVERYTHING you do on your phone, refreshes continuously (draining the battery), and even refreshes when you try to read a box. Why does every Fracking mgfr think I want to track some YouTwitFace user or have a “their Magazine” on my phone. And then wont let me even turn this POS off.

They copied FlipBoard or should I say Samsung partnered with FlipBoard to put this feature

  • Janet

    Hate that function

  • Paul Stalter

This is the worst video ever. “Uhhhh, ummmmm, uhhhhh, uhhhhhh.” I had to quit watching. I hope this guy never makes another video for anything ever again.

    • Evie

Better than the one YOU did…Oh wait! You didn’t do one! You know that old saying: If you have nothing nice to say…….

  • Compton Boodhoo

This app looks nice to me but I didn’t find it particularly useful. The newer one in the Galaxy Pro tablets looks better and is receiving better reviews as well, but still I have never found it a nuisance. It’s just there and doesn’t bother me. It never pops up unless I want it to and the battery life is incredible on my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition.

Im curious as to if any others have been able to add Facebook to this, they have different things such as twitter, tumblr but no facebook. Any help?

I have bought my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 just today and while exploring My Magazine I see that the category “Here and Now” is missing at all. Secondly for the news feed it has a limited list of countries and does not include country of my choice. How to add a new country or get the news from my personal choice of feeds/countries/locations?
Will highly appreciate if you guys please help on the above two issues.
