Sometimes a handful of words makes a greater impact than a thousand, and with Twitter, we see that in action every day! Share your thoughts or wisdom with the world, or read someone else’s. Keep up with world news and see what’s trending right now, as well watch your favorite celebrities live-tweet special events. Don’t miss out on another giveaway, author-rant, or Q&A. Discover the world of hashtags, and even create your own. Some say the 140 character-limit is limiting, but we think it opens up a whole new world of consolidated thought!

And that wraps up what we think are the best applications to download after getting a new Android smartphone or tablet! However, it can be difficult deciding which of these applications should go on your smartphone. After all, there are a lot of high-quality Android apps here, but you may not be interested in all of them.

If you’re looking for a quick and fun game to play, Candy Crush might be right up your alley. But maybe you’d rather spend your time on social networks. Whatever the case, there’s something for everybody on this list. And with that, we’d like to turn the mic over to our readers. What are your favorite applications that you might recommend for someone who’s just starting out with Android? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!

It’s worth noting that Keep is great for keeping notes that you can share across android devices. If you visit keep.google.com you can see them on a PC too.

I think personalization apps in a new phone aren’t a good idea. I bought my phone yesterday and I’m very happy with the UI, so why change if it’s new? c: Buuut, thanks, this list was very helpful, now I have more than 300 apps in my phone.

  • morzinbo

recommending ES file explorer after cheatah mobile bought them is like asking your readers to get adware.

    • primalxconvoy

Did those jokers buy that too? Didn’t they also buy Quikpic, the excellent photo gallery app?

For both of those apps, simply sideload a version that predates the buyout.

      • morzinbo

Yep, they bought both of them. Solid Explorer seems to be a good file explorer at the moment.

        • primalxconvoy

I use a sideloaded version of Solid explorer, as the dev doesn’t bother to answer emails, even from paying customers.

  • teej1

The author knows little about apps proven by recommending most of these apps. The saving grace being Swift Key…… WELL worth the purchase price.
Facebook app bogs down my new S6 so used to hang several times per day. Any app utilizer will show you how much it hogs your system resources. Don’t install it and use your browser instead.
The basic twitter app sucks regarding features. Fenix is by far the best twitter app.
I won’t use Spotify because of the terrible way they treat artists. Google it and never use them.
As stated below, don’t use EZ file explorer either, for obvious reasons.
I haven’t tried keep as Samsungs memo works fine for me and does very nice with voice to type memos. It may be worth trying.

    • primalxconvoy

I absolutely agree. If I didn’t know better, I’d say that they either just looked at the most popular apps at Google Play, or were paid/told to include them by a company/management.

It’s “articles” like this (and non-Andros related sponsored posts) that are damaging the credibility of this site.

I have Most of those applications mentioned above except few chat messengers like fring, ebuddy etc as having any 1 of those will solve our requirements
