Hands-On With The LG Spectrum LTE Phone For Verizon Wireless [Video] 4

LG and Verizon took some time at CES 2012 to introduce the new Spectrum LTE device. Our own Rob Nazarian went hands-on and was able to give us some nice insights of the new phone. You will notice right off the bat the huge screen and bright display. That's because the phone has a sweet 4.5-inch AH-IPS display complete with Corning Gorilla Glass. The resolution will be at a not-too shabby 1280 x 720 with 329 ppi, all in glorious High Definition. The phone also utilizes RGB striping— which is a fancy way of saying the phone gives you true color matching and “giving you colors as they were meant to be as if you were looking at them with the naked eye”.

Of course the phone doesn't skimp on additional features too, despite it's incredibly thin appearance. It's powered by a smooth 1.5GHz dual-core processor matched up with 1GB of RAM. There's also approximately 17.5GB of onboard storage. For those of you who love taking photos on the go, you'll find there's an 8MP camera with complete the ability to record videos in full 1080P HD and a front-facing camera for video chat. This is all operated on Gingerbread 2.3 with LG's custom UI skin (though the phone will be predictably updated to Ice Cream Sandwich sometime later in the year). Speaking of LG's custom UI skin, they've added the ability to create not only categories of apps in the UI, but you can even create a unique folder containing all the apps in that category and place the folder onto your homescreen.

The phone has some added exclusive bonuses too. LG and Verizon both teamed up with ESPN to drive exclusive HD content and video to the Spectrum over Verizon's state of the art 4G LTE network. Pretty cool, isn't it? Look for the phone to be out on January 19th for $199 on a 2-year contract. Check out the video after the break.
