Boori’s Spooky Tales is a casual, incredibly fun idle RPG that follows the tale of Boori—an anthropomorphic crow who seeks to regain his true body by learning the arts of exorcism and fighting his way through hordes of ghosts that get in his way.

In this game, you can learn several types of skills that can devastate multiple enemies all at once, delve into dangerous dungeons for various loot, try your luck at summoning different equipment much rarer than the last, and even compete against other players to see who’s the better buster of ghosts!

If you’re looking for a way to get better at Boori’s Spooky Tales, then say less. This guide will tell you everything you need to know—including a few helpful tips that you can use to progress your account both quickly and efficiently.

Boori's Spooky Tales – Progression

Like in most idle RPG games, your main objective in Boori’s Spooky Tales is pretty straightforward—kill as many enemies as you can, level up, upgrade your character’s stats, skills, and equipment, then get ready to fight stronger enemies some more.

There is no game over, of course, but you do get demoted if you die while fighting mob ghosts or bosses. Being demoted reverts your progress in the campaign by up to five stages, so be careful!

You also have Mid-bosses that you can fight every 5 stages, and Chapter Bosses that you can fight at the end of every chapter. Defeating Chapter Bosses advances you in the story and unlocks more stages for you to conquer.

You can also progress your account by doing the tasks shown to you on the main screen—as shown in the image above.

Not only can you get Gold, but you can also trigger story events or unlock other features by completing these tasks. Make sure you prioritize them, especially if you’re a beginner.

Upon progressing far enough in the game by leveling up and completing main tasks, you’ll eventually unlock other game modes such as:

Dungeons (Other Game Modes)Farmable ResourcesEntry Requirements
Daily DungeonsBrass Coins
Silk
Jades
Dungeon Entrance Tickets
Challenge DungeonsCostumes
Skill Books
Gold
Divine
Beast Spirits
None, but dungeons have increasingly high levels of difficulty.
Competitive DungeonsGoldNone, but dungeons have daily entrance limitations.

TIP: You can purchase Dungeon Entrance Tickets from the shop with Gold or by watching ads every day. They’re pretty rare, so use them wisely. Don’t sweep a Dungeon stage unless you’re absolutely sure you can’t clear the next stage anytime soon!

Combat & Controls

The combat in Boori’s Spooky Tales is mostly automated, with Boori attacking at set intervals and casting skills consecutively according to their cooldowns.

On the other hand, you can either automate Boori’s movement by doing nothing or initiate manual control by clicking on the screen to reveal your Movement Stick, as shown in the image below:

You also have other basic controls and UI elements to take note of, such as the Teleport button and your Skill Bar—as shown here:

The Teleport Button allows you to teleport Boori a short distance away in an instant, making it easier to dodge attacks and escape mobs of enemies.

Your Skill Bar, on the other hand, shows what Skills you have and their remaining cooldown. You can change from your normal Menu Bar to the Skill Bar (and vice versa) by clicking the “Switch” icon on the lower-left side of your screen.

TIP: You can control your teleports by bringing up your Movement Stick first, sliding toward the direction that you want to teleport to, then clicking Teleport. You’ll have to use this a lot during hard boss fights, so keep this in mind!

Draw

There are three main equipment types in Boori’s Spooky Tales that you can Draw for:

Equipment TypesEquip EffectsOwned Effects (Cumulative)
Weapons+Basic ATK
+Number of Monsters Penetrated
+Boss Monster ATK
Hats+Skill ATK+Normal Monster ATK
Belts+HP+HP

Each Equipment Type has its own “banner”, and each banner has a level that only increases whenever you draw on them (i.e. Draw Level).

The higher a banner’s Draw Level, the higher the chances you can draw high-rarity equipment.

For example, drawing on a Weapon banner 1,000 times will increase its Draw Level from Level 5 to Level 6, but it will not affect the Draw Levels of the Hat and Belt banners.

TIP: As a general rule, you’ll want to invest in all three equipment banners equally if you're a new player, but prioritize the Weapon and Hat banners a bit more once you get at least a decent S-rarity Belt.

You can also unlock the Relics section of the Draw page during Chapter 3. Each of Relic piece you obtain increases any one of the following stats:

  • ATK
  • HP
  • Crit ATK
  • Basic ATK
  • Skill ATK
  • Normal Monster ATK
  • Boss Monster ATK

NOTE: The Relic banner doesn’t have Draw Levels that you need to keep watch of, but drawing in it costs more compared to drawing in Equipment banners. Mind your spending!

Power-Up Methods (How To Get Stronger)

There are many ways that you can get stronger in Boori’s Spooky Tales. Here are all of them, as well as some tips that you’d do well to remember while powering up your Boori.

Growth

On your Growth page, you can access five different power-up methods:

Power-Up MethodsMaterial Requirements
GrowthBrass Coins
TraitsSoul
CostumeCostumes
Silk (For Costume Enhancement)
RelicRelics
Duplicate Relics (For Relic Enhancement)
EngravingEngraving Scroll
Divine BeastDivine Spirits

The most important ones that you should try to mindfully invest in out of all these methods are your Growth and your Traits, as other methods are pretty straightforward and depend mostly on RNG.

Also, Growth and Traits will give you the best improvements to your stats and overall power, plus you’ll unlock them right at the beginning stages of the game, unlike the others.

In the Growth sub-section, you can spend the Brass Coins you earn mainly by killing ghosts on either HP or ATK upgrades.

TIP: For your Growth, we recommend maintaining a balanced ATK and HP in your early levels. Put more investment on ATK if you're looking to push stages, then on HP if you want to settle on a stage to farm so that you don’t die often and get demoted.

Traits, on the other hand, allow you to choose between six different permanent buffs to invest your Souls (you can get these by simply leveling up) in:

  • Increased ATK %
  • Increased HP %
  • Increased HP Regeneration
  • Increased Movement Speed
  • Increased Crit Rate
  • Skill Cooldown Reduction

TIP: For your Traits, we recommend maxing out your Skill Cooldown Reduction first (it has a max level of 50) before heavily investing in any stats you feel you lack.

Equipment

One of the best ways to make your Boori stronger quickly is to get a better Weapon (Basic Damage), Hat (Skill Damage), and Belt (HP) by spending your Gold on Draws.

There are five different rarities of Weapons, Hats, and Belts in the game—D, C, B, A, S, SS, and finally, the ever-elusive SSS.

WARNING: Don’t spend all of your Jade enhancing one equipment piece, especially if you’re still a beginner who only has access to low-rarity equipment. Instead, save most of what you get for higher-tier equipment you’ll get later on.

TIP: Make sure to click the “Synthesize All” button every time you get new equipment from Draws, as this gives you one higher-tier equipment for every five duplicates of lower-tier equipment you have.

Skills

There are seven different skills that you can get in Boori’s Spooky Tales—each with its unique effects in battle. You can learn and upgrade these skills by spending Skill Books.

  • Flame: Summons a fireball that flies toward a random enemy.
  • Water: Creates a tide of water that crashes into enemies.
  • Darkness: Lays Silent Night—a black hole-like crater that damages enemies near it.
  • Lightning: Shoots lightning that bounces around enemies, potentially paralyzing them.
  • Frost: Drops icicles above nearby enemies, potentially freezing them.
  • Charm: Summons charms that circle around Boori, damaging enemies that come into contact with them.
  • Clone: Summons a clone of Boori that attacks nearby enemies.

TIP: The best Skill to invest in both as a beginner and veteran player would be Darkness, on account of its massive DPS potential. Feel free to try out other Skills, however, and remember that you can reclaim the Skill books you invested in one Skill for 1,000 Gold.

Five Best Tips For Beginners

If you’re new to Boori’s Spooky Tales and you’d like to optimize your gameplay for a smooth and quick progression, then don’t worry—we’ve got your back. Here are five tips that’ll help you do just that!

Tip #1: Complete Your Daily And Weekly Missions

Gold and Skill Books are among the most important resources in the game—especially Gold as you need lots of it to get stronger weapons, hats, and belts through Draws.

As a beginner, you’ll be given tons of Gold during your first few days of playing via achievements, mail rewards for new accounts, events, etc. However, once you blow through these “early-game Gold”, you may quickly find yourself not having enough for frequent equipment draws.

This is why you must develop a habit of clearing all Daily and Weekly early on, as they’ll remain a consistent source of Gold no matter how high your level is, as well as Skill Books.

  • Daily Missions Rewards: 10,000 Gold (100% Clear)
  • Weekly Missions Rewards: 18,000 Gold & 30 Skill Books (100% Clear)

Tip #2: Use Manual Movement During Tough Fights

There are some battles you just can’t win without taking control of Boori yourself, as allowing the auto-movement to do its thing will most likely end up in you being demoted if the enemies you’re fighting can do significant damage to you.

We recommend taking over Boori’s movement during boss fights (including dungeon boss fights) as they have telegraphed attacks that only you can avoid by using the Movement Stick + Teleport.

If you want to push as many stages as you can in the campaign, then you should also take manual control of Boori. Do note, however, that doing auto-farms in a stage that Boori can survive in without your help for a short while is just fine. Don’t overpush stages!

Tip #3: Check The Rankings For The Best Skill And Stat Builds

Boori's Spooky Tales - player rankings

If you don't know which skills to learn or in which stats or traits you should primarily invest, then you should give the global rankings a look and see if there’s someone you’d like to copy.

Granted, some of the top players’ builds may not be compatible with you since most of them are first-week players who most likely also already spent some money in the game, but they should still be a good reference.

We recommend building your Boori around the top players’ skill and stat builds at first, then gradually experimenting with your own builds as you get better at the game.

Tip #4: Register Active Coupon Codes

As a new player, one of the many great things about this game (or idle games in general) is the massive influx of free resources that you get just by starting an account and claiming items from the mail, attendance checks, or ongoing events.

If that isn’t enough, you can register coupon codes for even more items by going to the Menu > Settings > Account > Register—as shown in the image above.

Idle games are some of the best when it comes to releasing an ungodly amount of coupon codes for you to redeem, and in Boori’s Spooky Tales, a few codes can give you loads of:

  • Gold
  • Dungeon Entrance Tickets
  • Equipment Draw Tickets
  • Costumes
  • Brass Coins

Tip #5: Click On An Item To See Where You Can Get Them

If you’re having trouble finding where to farm a specific item in Boori’s Spooky Tales, all you have to do is click on its icon.

For example, suppose I want to know where I can get more Gold. The only thing I have to do is click on its display icon in the Menu, like so:

Upon clicking any icon of a resource you want to get more of, all of the item’s sources will be displayed, as you can see here:

And voila—see how easy that is? You can even click the “Shortcut” button right beside some of the sources to go straight there and farm the items you want right away. How’s that for a QoL feature?

Conclusion

When it comes to overall gameplay, Boori’s Spooky Tales is not that much different from other modern idle games. In a nutshell, it’s a classic “kill-upgrade-repeat” grind fest where your character can get obscenely strong even when you’re AFK.

However, just because the game is a little derivative doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s bad, as it does offer you a decent selection of game modes to play, stylized visuals, awesome QoL features, and more importantly, a streamlined power system that’s easy to grasp—even to beginners in the genre.
