Galaxy Tab 10.1 Keyboard Dock Gets A Quick Look Over

We’ve recently seen Samsung Galaxy’s 10.1 Tab get some keyboard and dock love after the Asus Transformer has been stealing all the thunder for a while.  Check out the video of the dock below.  The video doesn’t reveal a whole lot of functionality but you can get a good size comparison and feel just from looking at it.  The gentlemen in the video does a lot of walking around and comparing the tab to a few things but you can get a decent take on the keyboard itself from the last couple of minutes or so.  Unlike the Transformer, there is no touch pad and thanks to the video you can see the keyboard has a 3.5 mm headphone jack on it.  Do you think this is nice enough of a keyboard dock for you to spend some big bucks on the 10.1-inch Tab?  Is it a must have accessory to replace your laptop?  Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Any word on if this will also be compatible with the SGT 10.1v??? I got my 10.1v about 3 weeks ago here in Australia, and absolutely love it. It’s replaced my netbook for a few reasons, the main one being that it comes out of sleep mode MUCH faster. Having Evernote and Quick Office is awesome as well. I’d love to have an external dock/kb for my home-office…..

Too bad the video never showed the keyboard in actual use (typing and stuff), and I couldn’t really tell if the connector was a 3.5mm jack or a power input…

Maybe one reason they don’t show the keyboard in actual use is because it doesn’t work! Yes, that’s right, a huge number of people are discovering that they plug the Galaxy Tab 10.1 into the keyboard dock and it is not recognized by the Tab, or only partially recognized. In my case, it gives added virtual keyboard functionality, but the actual keyboard keys DO NOT WORK! I note that the functionality I get could have been done with an app, probably for free, and it certainly didn’t require an $80 appliance! Tech support claims that they are “working on it.” You might want to hold off on buying just yet…
