Believed to be launching next week on June 6th for the Brazil market followed by wider global availability, apparent official images of the Motorola Moto Z3 Play leaked to the web today. The Motorola Moto Z3 Play is the latest update to one of Motorola's mid-tier line of devices. That means the hardware is not going to be super impressive and the design is unlikely to push any boundaries. However, it does appear Motorola is pushing some top-tier concepts into the middle market segment with the Motorola Moto Z3 Play.
From a design standpoint, a couple items are worthy of note. First, Motorola is pushing the screen out towards the edge of the device. At 6 inches and running full HD resolution, the Moto Z3 Play does not have the thinnest bezels, but they have done a good job minimizing them on a mid-tier device. In particular the top and bottom bezels are pretty small and many Android fans will likely welcome the lack of a notch.
The front of the device also lacks another item that has been standard for Motorola smartphones – a fingerprint scanner. To maximize the screen, Motorola had to abandon that design cue. With the capability of supporting Moto Mods, that also meant the scanner could not go on the back of the device. So Motorola fit it in the edge of the phone underneath the power button.
On the inside, the Moto Z3 Play gets a Snapdragon 636 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of storage onboard. The phone is expected to come equipped with a 3,000 mAh battery. Where things may be a bit interesting is in the rear-facing camera, which gets a dual lens unit as that feature starts to push its way down the market segments. In the case of the Moto Z3 Play, the sensors are expected to be a pair of 12MP units.
