At a surprisingly low-key event in Russia earlier today, Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Tab A lineup, which includes two new tablets — an 8-inch and a 9.7-inch. The slates will be available to purchase in both blue and gold colorways when they launch in the United States later this year.
In terms of hardware, the duo sport displays with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of flash memory (expandable up to 128GB via microSD), a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter and a 4,200mAh battery.
As you can see in the image above, the Galaxy Tab A's appear to run Android 5.0 Lollipop skinned with the latest version of Samsung's TouchWiz custom user interface, which the South Korean manufacturer states is “less bloated” and “more optimized” than previous versions, making it the “easiest way to use your device or tablet, giving you intuitive handling of everyday tasks.”
Samsung's Galaxy Tab A range is set to launch in Russia next month, where the 8-inch version will be priced round about 16,990 – 18,990 Rubles and 20,990 – 22,990 Rubles for the Wi-Fi and LTE variants, whilst the 9.7-inch models will be in the region of 20,990 – 22,990 Rubles and 24,990 – 26,990 Rubles, respectively.
