Remember earlier this month when we told you that a man had to be taken to the hospital after his Droid 2 exploded in his ear while he was using it? Well, as it turns out it may not have even exploded at all. An employee at Motorola stated that what likely happened was the phone was dropped, resulting in the broken display near the ear piece, and then the phone was used resulting in the injury from the broken glass.
Personally I find this to be a bit more of a likely explanation, but I suppose anything is possible. Of course, this would make the injured person a liar, but that wouldn't be the first time someone exaggerated a situation for media attention and/or financial gain.

The glass looks like it was smashed in from the outside. From the photo posted, it looks as if the phone took a hit near the earpiece by a rock or similar object. It appears that the glass is fragmented in towards the phone… if it exploded, you would have more fragments and they would be outward facing. Besides, what would explode in that area? the battery is on the back side, and you have metal and plastic between it and the front glass…
This just makes me wish there were more Seidio cass available for the Droid X.
I think it was dropped….anyways this makes me not want to use my phone any longer..
