
We knew it was coming, but Google made their big announcement today: Android 2.3, Gingerbread, is now official. It will make its first appearance on a phone on December 16th, but Google is making the OS available to developers right now. Google also announced that they will be open-sourcing Gingerbread “in the coming weeks,” so expect to see more phones launching with the tasty new OS in the near future.
