LG has filed several new trademark applications with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. The three applications all include the term “Frame” in them and seem to correspond with existing device lines produced by the company. The trademarks include “G Flex Frame”, “F Frame”, and “G Frame”. Sources seem to think these may be names for a new generation of smartphones. It should be noted though that the descriptions cover a wide variety of goods and services, including several types of wearable technology.

Keep in mind LG has managed to forge a strong relationship with Google in recent months. An example of how this is paying off for them is by being one of the first companies to produce Android Wear powered smartwatches and they will be the second to bring a round smartwatch to market after the Moto 360. Is it possible LG is in line to start producing some new wearable tech that uses frames, something like eyewear? Keep in mind LG filed for trademarks that included the word “Prime” earlier this year, but nothing has surfaced yet that makes use of those trademarks.
