ASUS ZenWatch officially unveiled

As expected, ASUS took the wraps off of the the ZenWatch today. It's An Android Wear watch that centers around security, remote control, and wellness.

Although Android Wear is the main software, ASUS does bring some of its ZenUI and a few applications to the table. Watch Unlock allows you to unlock your phone or tablet by touching the watch's face. Tap Tap lets you pick an app that will open automatically when you double tap on the watch. You will also find a wellness manager for tracking your step count, heart rate, and relaxation levels. It even offers tips to help you achieve certain goals. Finally, there is also Cover to Mute, Find My Phone, Remote Camera, and Presentation Control. To use all of these features you will need a ZenWatch Manager app on your phone (or tablet) along with a Remote Camera app, and the ASUS Remote Link app.

As far as specs go, it sports a 1.63-inch 320 x 320 AMOLED display with curved Gorilla Glass 3, a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage, 1.4Wh battery, and Bluetooth 4.0. It's also rated at IP55 so feel comfortable bringing it in the shower with you. The watch itself is a curved stainless-steel case with a rose-gold-colored band inset. It will use the standard 22 mm size for watch bands, and they include a stitched leather strap out of the box.

You can expect to be able to purchase the ZenWatch in late Quarter 3 or early Quarter 4. Pricing will be €199 ($260).
