We have held a number of contests with Poweramp in the past, but this one is by far the biggest. Poweramp is celebrating build 555 by giving away 5 premier smartphones during a 5 day contest with their 5 favorite Android blogs. The phones up for grabs include the Samsung Galaxy S 5, HTC One  (M8), LG G2, Nexus 5, and Samsung Galaxy Note 3.  An amazing group indeed.

Here'a how it works. All you have to do is comment at the bottom of this post telling us what your first Android phone was (or is)? You will have until Friday, May 2, at 11:59PM PST to get your entry in. Once the contest is over, we will select one random winner and submit it to Poweramp. The other four sites will do the same, and Poweramp, in association with Negri Electronics, will hold a random drawing for each phone. We will let our winner know which phone they have won next Monday, May 5, which is when Poweramp version 555 will be released. Be sure that your account has a working email address because that is how we are going to contact you.

We have even more good news. This contest is open to just about everyone around the world. The devices are going to come from Negri Electronics, which means they will be unlocked and can be used anywhere. You just want to make sure you are in one of the countries that Negri Electronics ships to (see below).

To maximize your chances to win, we encourage you to visit the other participating sites. Here are the links  – Android Central, Android Police, Droid Life, and XDA-Developers. Good luck!!!

If you haven't tried Poweramp, then what are you waiting for? It's the best damn music player available on Android. Download Links below.

UPDATE: Congratulations to Mangesh, you are going to receive either a Galaxy S 5, HTC One (M8), Nexus 5, LG G2, or Note 3. I have already sent you an email so make sure you get back to me ASAP or we will be forced to pick another winner. Assuming you get back to us, I will submit your info to Poweramp and Negri Electronics. They will hold their drawing on Monday, May 5, that will include all the winners from all the sites to determine which phone you will receive. Thank you to all that played and be sure to look out for another contest from TalkAndroid real soon.

UPDATE 2: Our first winner never got back to us so we have picked another winner. Congratulations to Martijn Visser. I just sent you an email so get back to me ASAP or we will pick yet another winner.

UPDATE 3: Poweramp ran their drawing and Martijn drew the HTC One (M8). Congratulations!! It's an awesome phone.

  75. My first Android phone was Motorola Defy ….and guess what ….it still is. Its rocking cm11 on a locked Bootloader! Although it does show its age. Hard to imagine how far Android has come in a few years. My phone is lovingly known as the “waterproof dinosaur” by my friends who have higher end phones.

  76. I had my first Android date with Xperia X10 :D It was both my first and best Android device

    This
is my entry. I hope to win any of those devices. Any of those would
help me a lot in my studies and connecting to my parents abroad. Would
also be great for playing music along with Poweramp. I hope one of the
prizes reaches the Philippines if not me. Thank you. :)

  87. Technically it was a HTC hd2 that I put android on but my first official android phone was the HTC one s

  93. My first android phone was an LG Optimus Net P690 running Gingerbread 2.3.3, so damn slow and small and the battery only lasted about 5-6 hours if I kept the mobile data on. Still it was my gateway drug to the Android world.

  94. First Android phone is Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100). Still using it today, rooted and running CM11 of course. Great phone, feels fast enough for me but it seems time for an upgrade.

  95. My first android was a Motorola M503 running on Android Froyo a couple of years back. I had Apple 3GS and 4GS. Feddup with them. Love android phones. I had Froyo, Gingerbread, Ice cream Sandwich, Jellybean all different phones. Tried windows, not flexible…. Android is the way to go…… Email, gerald.goonting@gmail.com

  96. My first Android phone was Sony Xperia J which I still use for almost 1 year. It was the optimal choice when it comes to the quality & functionality / price ratio. I really want and have a professional need of a better one, though. I honestly hope that I will be one of the randomly-picked winners ^_^

  99. I was fortunate enough to have a HTC one m8 as my first and I’m still trying to figure it all out… Good times and confusing because my last phone was a flip phone…

  100. My very first was a ZTE Blade. And after two years of use I got a Motorola Droid 2. Still using that:)

  101. I have been an iPhone user since they first have come out, and am writing this on my first Android product, a rooted Nexus 7. I will not be buying Apple again, and am either looking at an HTC m8 or waiting for the LG-G3.

  102. LG Optimus V. From there I got a Samsung Galaxy S2, then an Evo 3D (when 3D was all the rage) but the screen technology that Samsung used was unmatchable so I switched back to the S2. I now have the Note 3, been looking to get my hands on the S5 and/or the HTC One (M8), look amazing.

  103. Samsung Galaxy Ace was my 1st Android device… and that’s device starts my intensive interest to Android platform, and that device brought me to the best Mobile Operating System… the Android :)

  105. My first Android was the Droid Charge. It was the first Samsung product I ever bought, and it will surely be the last.

  106. My first ever Android smartphone is GiONEE ELife E7 gifted by the GiONEE itself. I wish to win one of the five cool androids above. Never used a flagship device from a top company, not even a low end android. lol

  107. Technically my first Droid was an Xperia S, but it didn’t last more than 1 week (manufacturing defect in the screen), so I exchanged it for a Galaxy S2. It’s a bit slow and feels outdated now, but still chugging along.

  111. My first Android was the G1. Currently I own the Nexus 5 but the microphone just shit the bed so, if I won thst would be awesome.

  112. My first Android device was the HTC Incredible. I got caught up in the shortages. I cut a vacation short so I could get to a Best Buy Mobile center which had two in stock. They were the only store in a 300 mile radius with the phone. I still have the little guy sitting on my desk here.

  113. I’ve never owned a Android phone. I’ve only had Blackberry phones. I am hoping to make the move soon to a HTC One M8 or a Nexus 5.

  114. My first Android phone was an HTC Incredible. I held on to the last second switching to a Samsung Galaxy S3 because I wanted to keep my unlimited data on Verizon.

  115. I think my first android device was an htc incredible. I really can’t remember what I had before that… but it was a touch screen, but it was horrible!

  116. My first device that was able to run Android was HTC Touch Pro. My first device with preinstalled Android was Samsung Galaxy Ace.

  117. My first Android phone is only one: my Nexus 5. Before that I used a tracfone and a Archos 43 then Nexus 7 tablet

  118. Micromax a110 is the first android phone in my life. And still using the same phone..will be the happiest guy if I get one of the five phones as I am interested in all those but could not able to buy due to financial problems.

  119. My first Android phone is the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, SCH-I515, and I continue to use it as my daily driver. It is running Android 4.4.2 thanks to ShinyROM, and still functions smoothly. Other than poor battery life (it’s an old phone, after all), I still love it, but would be ecstatic to upgrade. My favorite device available now is the HTC One M8. Thanks for the contest!

  120. My first and still my current Android phone is the LG P970. After having this device for almost 3 years now I would love to get rid of this laggy phone and win one of these 5 awesome Android smartphones! :)

  121. First Android “phone” was a Nexus 7 tab. And thanks, too, to Talk Android, Poweramp, and Negri Electronics for the cool giveaway. Cheers!

  122. My first phone was an android phone only, Samsung Galaxy Y, and I still use it. But it is bound to many limitations I can hardly utilise the potential of Android. Lets hope I get Lucky this time and get my hands on any of these 5 badass beasts and dive in to the sea of Android without any limitation. *Fingers Crossed*

  123. My first android phone was samsung galaxy s2. It was a great phone and i have been liking the android platform since then!

  125. I’ve never had a smartphone, it’s highest time to get one. Hopefully this contest will help me to get one. :)

  129. My first experience with android was with Samsung Galaxy Y. Still having the same with CM 7.2 optimized ROM.

  130. My old trusty Motorola DEFY. It was alright, until I slapped Cyanogen on it, then it was several degrees of awesomer. I miss that lil guy.

  131. My first android phone was and still is the HTC One (M7). I love that thing, bit it’s getting a little long in the tooth, don’t ya think?

  132. my first phone was the Samsung Galaxy S2….I still remember the headline “A shining new light in the android universe”.

  133. My first and still phone is the Samsung Note 2. With the 4.3 update, my phone has messed up. I’m trying to get into rooting and all that, but just taking it slow. I would like the Note 3 if I have the opportunity to choose,. Thank you.

  134. My first Android phone was/is the Galaxy Nexus. At the time, I was choosing between a Motorola (Droid? — I’m not sure what it was called anymore) Razr and the Nexus. The Razr had its ace as water-resistant, but the Nexus, of course, was easily customizable software-wise. I eventually made my decision based on the fact that I have never, ever in my life broken any sort of technological hardware by dropping or spilling liquids over it. Hence, I wouldn’t exactly be needing the water-resistance.

  135. My phone is Sony Xperia Sola. It was running Gingerbread at first, then got the ICS update. After that there were no software update, but the devs in xda ported Jellybean and now got AOSP 4.4.2,Kitkat!!!! I would love to win any of these new phones.

  136. If I were given
    the option to
    choose from the
    list of available
    phones, my
    decision would
    be to pick the
    Samsung Galaxy
    S5. With all of
    the positive
    reviews and
    comments that
    are being
    circulated on the
    internet
    regarding the
    Galaxy S5, I’m
    feeling that I
    must purchase
    this phone! It
    honestly looks
    amazing and I’m

  137. My first smartphone was HTC Wildfire. That time was like a highend smartphone.. now it’s just… nothing!

  138. Well, winning would be music to my ears powered by Poweramp, shipped by Negri Electronics and courtesy of Talk Android

  305. Thanks poweramp for this giveaway. Giving 5 phones at the same time, you can not see this kind of thing from other companies.

  306. It was Samsung Galaxy R (i9103, with Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread), now I am using much better thing – Samsung Galaxy R (i9103, with Android 4.0.4 IceCream Sandwich) :-D

However I tried to go with my luck and I was not at all disappointed. A beautiful touchscreen phone with a beautiful Android interface. Even though there was no 3G service in India at that time the 2G service was working great on this phone. I think it was Android v1.6 Donut at that time. I miss those days. God bless…..

  346. Atrix 4G…. on AT&T…. I bought it from eBay for $200… primarily because of the solid specs (at that time), CM support, and that awful fingerprint sensor

  347. HTC Inspire. I was a bit late to the party but from there I went on to the Galaxy S II (international flavor when it was available, none of that confusing mess that eventually reached US operators). It’s all been downhill since then.

I passed it to my mother-in-law and it is still running strong!

  522. Back in summer 2012, I sold my 1st gen iPad for a used Korean Nexus S. It took my a while to realize that it was a Korean model and that was the reason T-Mobile’s 3G was incredibly spotty, but it didn’t turn me away from Android and I upgraded to a N4 last summer. A new Android phone would be nice as I’d just give my Nexus 4 to my dad (who is currently using the Nexus S…yep, he kind of needs an upgrade too).

  537. My first android phone was the HTC wildfire. Was a great entry device at the time, close to useless now sadly.

  538. First android phone was xperia x8, android version 2.1 that i kill almost 17 times just because of curiosity of android’s customizability.

  550. My first Android phone was the Nexus 4, and it’d be awesome to win one of those amazing devices!

  551. My first Android phone? The HTC Magic. Albeit the 2nd Android phone when released in Canada, it was the first to spark the ‘who’s going to update it’ debate. ‘dem were fun days.

  552. My first and current android phone is HTC DesireS.
Now it runs on customized 4.4.2 Cynogenmod. :)
    If I win – i’ll have a new phone.
If no – I still have to wait until everybody gives up on compiling for my DesireS… or phone battery dies.

  553. Believe it or not, I joined the Android party pretty late and my first was the Nexus 4 (and HTC One S for the wife around the same time). I don’t think I can go back to iOS or WP now… :)

  554. Does the HTC Elf count? I ran Android 1.5 via HaRet there, it was nearly unusable, but still fun.

  566. My first android phone was a Samsung Galaxy S.
It still “lives” but is used by my father. Gave it to him to get him into the Android world :D

  567. 1st device was galaxy s2 and still own one , I hope poweramps devs update songs sorting as I suggested
