
The NOOKcolor built on Android is the perfect holiday gift for any Android user who also enjoys reading.
If you're not familiar with the NOOKcolor, it is a revamped version of the original NOOK e-reader. The NOOKcolor obviously now features a 7″ color display and also runs Android. Other specs include:

- 802.11 b/g/n WiFi for eBook purchasing and browsing
- microSD expansion card slot
- 3.5mm headset jack
- Integrated mono speaker
- Standard microUSB port for charging and book transfer via cable
- Dimensions of 8.1 x 5.0 x 0.48 inches and 15.8 ounces
Although the primary use for the NOOKcolor will be to read eBooks, it can also be considered an affordable Android tablet due to the ability to browse the web via Wi-Fi, listen to music, and even utilize social networks like Facebook and Twitter. Developers are also looking to create applications for the NOOKcolor.
Pre-order for the NOOKcolor has started; you can get this awesome Android e-reader for $249. Orders are expected to ship on or around November 19th, just in time for the upcoming holiday season.

To me this honestly looks like a very compelling ebook reader. I’ve resisted the category for lack of flexibility (I want to be able to flip from reading to surfing easily).
Still, the Kindle is half as heavy (0.5lbs vs 0.9875), which is an important factor when reading. I also wonder at the battery life.
