Android Tablets Predicted to Dominate Market

Apple seems pretty confident that they are going to keep the iPad at the top of the tablet market well into 2011. We know otherwise, but so does Gene Munster who is a Senior Research Analyst with Piper Jaffray.

He states that although Apple has geared up to push 45 million iPads next year, he predicts that number to be half based on their research at Piper Jaffray. Interestingly enough, they also see Android positioning itself on the top of the tablet market.

We reported on the popularity of Android in mobile platforms, and the tablet form factor is exactly where the mobile market is making its shift.

    But are we talking quantity over quality as a good long term business practice?

    The Android OS’ strongest benefit is also its biggest shortcoming. With multiple versions of the OS and no control over quality of hardware its slapped on, how long will it be until average consumers are turned off to the influx of junk that’s mixed in with the good quality products.

    Like Apple or hate them, they do make quality products on the whole. With the exception of antennagate, the only major complaint with their iPhone is the choice of wireless carrier.
