We certainly expect Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to make its way to ASUS Transformer devices sooner rather than later. Let’s face it, ASUS has one of the best track records for updates as the Transformer Prime received the Ice Cream Sandwich update in January, and the original Eee Pad Transformer (TF101) received it February. We fully expect Jelly Bean to land on the higher end devices, but there was a rumor floating around that the Eee Pad Transformer and the Eee Pad Slider might not be so fortunate. Supposedly an ASUS rep at a press conference in the Netherlands said that it’s unlikely that either device would receive the update. Of course the rest of the lineup was good to go.
Today, ASUS Germany denied the comment and said that the Jelly Bean update is confirmed for the Transformer Prime (TF201), Transformer Pad (TF300), and Transformer Infinity (TF700), but also confirmed that the Eee Pad Transformer (TF101) and Eee Pad Slider (SL101) will also get the update.
Here’s the full statement from their Facebook page (translated via Google):
We need to deny this clear. Colleagues from the Netherlands have made no statement about TF101/SL101, but merely confirms that a Jelly Bean TF201/TF300/TF700 update be received. The converse, that is not TF101/SL101 JB update will be false and pure speculation. According to current knowledge, and users of older TF101/SL101 enjoy an Android 4.1 update will come.
I knew ASUS would deliver yet again!!
