Google Acquires QuickOffice, Looks Forward To An Even More Seamless, Intuitive And Integrated Experience 4

In a move to possibly counter Microsoft's future intentions, Google has just announced it acquired productivity giant QuickOffice. This is likely done because of the simple fact that more and more people are using their Android devices to do work on the go. More importantly— Google's existing Google Docs is a cloud-based service popular with the masses, but not-so friendly with the various Microsoft Office formats. So it's presumed the QuickOffice acquisition will likely bridge that major gap and integrate the popular Microsoft Office formats with Google Docs' seemless cloud technology. Google believes users of its Google Apps services, consumers and even students will benefit from the new acquisition too:

“Today, consumers, businesses and schools use Google Apps to get stuff done from anywhere, with anyone and on any device. Quickoffice has an established track record of enabling seamless interoperability with popular file formats, and we'll be working on bringing their powerful technology to our Apps product suite”.

Expect to see some immediate enhancements of both QuickOffice and/or Google Docs immediately.
