Google is at it again and by that I mean that the search giant is wielding the axe on another of its products – this time it's the dedicated Street View app that is being sent to the graveyard. Having launched on Android and iOS back in 2015, the Street View app will be pulled from app stores over the coming weeks. For once, Google is simply removing an app whose main feature is already acccessible in another of its primetime apps.
Google confirmed the axing of the Street View app to The Verge and said that support for the app will end on March 31st, 2023, thus confirming a previous story by 9to5Google.
There's no need to cry. Mostly.
When it comes to the pure Street View function, you'll be glad to know that it's already baked in to Google Maps on apps and browser, and you can still upload your 360° imagery via the Street View Studio web app which you can access here.
THe only real bad news is that once the Street View app ceases to be supported by Google, it will no longer be possible to add Photo Paths to Google Maps. Previously submitted Photo Paths will still be viewing from within Google Maps, though.
