WIN of the day - Hello Kitty Android super-phone 5

Softbank, the mobile carrier in Japan surprised us yesterday with the announcement of a Yahoo phone running Google’s Android OS; yeah, strange. Things just get weirder. Today the Japanese carrier brings us the Hello Kitty branded Aquos. For this special Hello Kitty edition, owners will have the privilege to enjoy Kitty themed menus, screens, icons, mail, calculator, alarm clock, and more. Although the phone is heavily branded with Hello Kitty, there is a Snoopy theme as well. While it may be cute and glamorous, don’t be fooled. The Aquos is a beast. Aside from being the world’s first Android flip phone, you’ll find that the Aquos has

  • Gingerbread 2.3
  • 1Ghz 2nd gen Snapdragon processor
  • 16MP camera with 1280×720 HD video recording
  • IEEE 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0+EDR
  • GPS
  • Micro HDMI
  • microSD/SDHC slot (shipped with a 2GB card inside)
  • waterproof body
  • digital TV tuner
  • digital wallet function (Felica/RFID)
  • infrared port
  • Blu-ray recorder connectivity

Ladies, many of you commented on our previous article about the HTC Bliss with outcries for pocket powerhouse, so I look forward to reading your comments in response to this device. Guys if you think you’re too cool to rock a Hello Kitty phone, it’s also available in plain blue.

  1. I’m a guy and I would have no problem rocking the Hello Kitty phone. If you are secure in yourself then you do not need to fear what someone else thinks about the cute little phone you are talking on. Besides, at my age people would just think I was using my daughters phone. LOL

  2. plz i would really really want this phone, i would like to give it to my niece, she’s a total hello kitty  fan and it would be a really great birthday present for her next month

  3. Hi there! Quick question that’s totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My blog looks weird when viewing from my iphone 4. I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might be able to resolve this problem. If you have any suggestions, please share. Thank you!

  4. Pros: all the Japanese technology (well minus the thermometer, hygrometer, 50-color LEDs all around the phone, more mobile wallet apps, etc…)

Pro: it’s Android :D And from using it at the stores, it’s very very smooth

Con: 940mAh or so battery. With all the battery drain of Android, this won’t even last a day.. Good thing mobile chargers (solar, battery, AA-battery, USB, etc) are available at every convenience store in Japan lol.

Con: can’t be software unlocked, which means to use anywhere else in the world you need a “hypersim” and many people can’t get data connectivity or incoming calls on 3G and so on.

And if you think a Hello Kitty mobile is weird, you haven’t been to Japan. There’s even a “Disney Mobile” line of Android phones available over here… And there’s always special-edition phones like this one.

  5. I saw the words “win” and Hello Kitty” in the same sentence via Android Digest and flew over all too quickly. I love me some HK products and would love to win, no wait 2, since there’s blue as well.

  6. looks cool and the specs really amazing 16MP camera? are you sure you didn’t mistranslated this?
    and it’s a filp phone

hell depending on the screen size and price i might just buy it
