Google announced the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL on August 12, 2026, at its Made by Google event in New York. Pre-orders opened that day, and both phones went on sale on August 20.
In particular, the Pro XL has glass on both sides, where the front uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2 with Google's new anti-scratch layer. The back is also Victus 2, with a silky matte finish.
An aluminum frame wraps the edges. On Canyon, Olive and Fog the frame is polished, and Obsidian is the only color with a matte frame. It's rated IP68 and weighs 8 ounces.
The EU publishes drop test results on its energy label site, EPREL, and the Pro XL managed to get away with 270 drops, earning an A rating. That doesn't change the fact that it's the wider and heavier phone, so it's harder to hold securely in one hand.
I'd target slim-to-mid cases that cover the frame completely, add grip, and keep Pixelsnap working. Heavy rugged cases are overkill here. Here's are my top case picks, based on what the phone needs.

Pro protection is your only option for Pixel
If you ever do damage your device, Google has made the phone easily fixable. The buttons pop out for replacement, plus the screen and the back glass each come off in minutes.
Not that it's any consolation, but a cracked back isn't the end of the phone. With a new and well-maintained case combined with screen protectors, this won't even be a topic of discussion.
