Popular leaker Evan Blass has released renders of the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra on X, and it's the clearest look yet at Samsung's next flagship tablet. The renders follow a separate leak from leaker Roland Quandt on Bluesky, who spotted EU energy label listings detailing the Ultra's battery endurance. Blass shares that the Tab S12+ and Tab S12 Ultra are coming next month, and all signs point to an October 7 launch.
Yet again, nothing much has changed
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra's renders show the front, back, both sides, and the S Pen. The design largely repeats what we've already seen on the Tab S11 Ultra. The front has a waterdrop notch in the top edge of the display in landscape orientation, and it holds the front camera.
The bezels are slim and even on all four sides, and the corners are rounded as before. On the back, two cameras are in the top-right corner as separate circular cutouts, with a small flash beside them. There's no camera island.
Three pogo pins are along the bottom center of the rear panel for the keyboard cover. The side profile is again an aluminum frame with square edges. The volume rocker and power button are on one side, and a magnetic strip runs along the top edge in landscape, where the S Pen attaches. The S Pen itself has a flat side, and because the Tab S11 generation dropped Bluetooth, it no longer charges while attached.
The colorway in the image is a graphite gray, though Samsung hasn't confirmed all color options. Any generational upgrades are likely in the processor, battery, and display panel, which we're yet to see.
Rumors circulating around the specifications suggest that the Tab S12 Ultra has a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel at 2960 x 1848 and 120 Hz, powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 9500. Storage starts at 256GB and climbs to 1TB, with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and microSD support up to 2TB.
It has an 11,600 mAh battery with 45W wired charging support. The rear cameras are a 13MP main and an 8MP ultrawide, alongside a 12MP front camera that records 4K at 60 fps. Pricing is expected to be around $1,768.
As you may recall, Samsung has a habit of shipping two tablets per generation instead of three. In 2024, the Tab S10 series arrived as the Plus and Ultra with no base model.
Last year, the company reversed it and launched the Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra, skipping the Plus. So again this year, there are only two models, and the base Tab S12 appears to be the one left out.
According to WinFuture, the Tab S12+ may come with a 12.6-inch panel at 2800 x 1752 with the same chipset and a 120 Hz refresh rate. It pairs 12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. The battery is 10,600 mAh, it weighs 555 grams, and it runs two speakers instead of four like the Ultra model.
The rear camera setup includes only a 13MP sensor. Pricing is expected to be about $1,491. Both tablets should come with aluminum bodies, IP68 ratings, Android 17, and One UI 9.
Tab S12 series' battery is a G-grade student
The EU Energy Label listings for the Galaxy Tab S12 series have also appeared in the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL). Manufacturers must register products in the database before they can be sold in the EU.
Recent filings confirm model numbers for both tablets. The X84x range corresponds to the Tab S12+, and the X94x range to the Tab S12 Ultra. Within each range, the variants carrying a “6” in the model number are the 5G versions, with the rest being Wi-Fi only.
The Tab S12+ was spotted with a rating of 80 hours and 34 minutes per charge, and the Tab S12 Ultra had a rating of 88 hours and 54 minutes. Both tablets are listed with a G energy efficiency rating, which is the lowest class on the EU's A to G scale.
It doesn't necessarily mean the batteries are bad so much as they're large. But the EU does set stricter standards for tablets than for phones, so a tablet needs a considerably better ratio than a phone to earn the better letters.
A G-rated tablet reaches its runtime by holding more energy, so it draws more from the wall to fill up and carries a heavier cell to do it. A more efficient tablet with the same runtime would cost less to charge and weigh less.
