Amazon's Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition first launched in late 2024 and was the company's first eReader with a color display. But many users hated it because its features were underwhelming for the hefty $280 tag it came with.
A cheaper 16GB model was released last month, in July 2025, at an inflated price of $250. It's now being discounted at $30 off, bringing the price down to $220. The basic colourless Kindle from 2024 is also on sale. This limited-time deal doesn’t require coupons and you can simply add the featured devices straight to your cart on the shopping platform.
A decent graphic reading experience is selling for $220

The Amazon Kindle Colorsoft is an eReader and is built mainly for reading digital content, like your eBooks for example. Unlike a regular Kindle or Kindle Paperwhite, it has a color display designed to make them more visually appealing.
It really leans into the psychology of colors to make books feel as realistic as a movie. Black-and-white text is timeless, but it’s neutral. Color, on the other hand, sparks emotional responses where warm tones like red and orange can create urgency or excitement, and cooler tones invoke calmness and stability. Each shade taps into our natural tendency to associate hues with mood and meaning.
The device still does everything a Kindle does, except that it now mimics a real and illustrated page rather than mere black-and-white text. The model on sale has a 7-inch display with built-in adjustable warm light.
In monotone state, it delivers sharp 300 ppi text, while in color it runs at 150 ppi because of a filter layer that softens the tones. You can highlight passages in multiple colors, including yellow, orange, blue, and pink, as well as tweak text size and boldness to suit your eyes.
Battery life lasts up to eight weeks on a single USB-C charge. The device weighs about 7.6 ounces (215g), measures roughly 5 by 7 inches with a slim 0.3 inches profile. It’s fully waterproof with an IPX8 rating. You may use it by the pool or near other water sources. But Amazon hasn’t certified it for dust protection.
Storage is 16GB. Though it sounds small, it should support thousands of eBooks, given that most Kindle eBooks average between 1MB and 5MB, even with illustrations. That said, the ColorSoft also supports Audible audiobooks over Bluetooth and is ad-free.

For $130 less, you can buy last year's monotone Kindle

Amazon has also discounted the 2024 Amazon Kindle. It’s a 6-inch glare-free display device with 300 ppi, higher contrast, faster page turns, and a front light that’s 25% brighter at maximum brightness. It includes Dark Mode to allow you invert text and background for comfortable nighttime reading. It even delivers up to six weeks of battery life on a single USB-C charge.
Storage is 16GB. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have waterproofing or color. It's more suited for anyone who wants a distraction-free and highly portable Kindle for everyday reading. The device is currently on sale for $90, down from its regular price of $110.
It's the more profitable purchase with the same features, only that it's smaller, has a shorter charge span, no waterproofing, and no pretty colours. Unless you mainly read comics or illustrated books, the extra $130 isn’t justified. But it's ultimately your call.
