The battle royale genre has taken the video gaming scene by storm. I would have said it's only a trend for shooters, but that's not true, because there's a thing called “Tetris 99”. Yes, that's Tetris in battle royale form. Anyway, even though Call of Duty already has a game on smartphones, we're about to get another one.
If you play Call of Duty Warzone on your computer or console, you'll be very happy to know that Call of Duty Warzone Mobile is now official, and you can download it for your Android phone. Let's talk about what you'll need to get started.
Call Of Duty Warzone Mobile Doesn't Require A Flagship To Play
Call of Duty Warzone Mobile has just had its wide release on both Android and iOS smartphones, and I know you might be itching to play it, but there are some things that you should know before you jump right in. The game has the same general structure as most battle royales on mobile. You use touch controls (or a Bluetooth controller) to drop onto the map, kill your opponents, and survive to the very end of the game.
There are two game modes here: Battle Royale and Resurgence. Battle Royale goes the way you expect, though if you die, you can come back through the Gulag mechanic, where you fight against another “dead” player where the winner can respawn. In Resurgence, there's no Gulag, and you respawn after a certain time as long as one team member is still in play.
It's a new mobile game, so you might wonder what specs you'll need to play it reliably. Well, you'll need at least 4GB of RAM, which most phones these days have, apart from the lowest budget tier. The minimum GPU requirement is an Adreno 618, and the weakest Snapdragon chip with that is the Snapdragon 720G. For reference, that chip was announced five years ago 2019 for mid-range phones like the Realme 7 Pro.
This doesn't mean that the game won't work on non-Snapdragon chips, though. Exynos or MediaTek options with similar performance to the Adreno 618 should be able to play the game fine.
It Does Require Quite A Bit Of Free Storage Though
While it might not require a flagship device, you'll want to have a lot of free space on your device of choice. That's because the base game will take up 1.5GB of space to be installed, and then after that, the game will download additional resources that amount to a whopping 5GB. So it's best to have about 7GB of space free on your device before you install the game.
What Makes Warzone Mobile Different From Call Of Duty Mobile?
Announced in 2022, there's a bit that differentiates Call of Duty Warzone Mobile from the regular Call of Duty Mobile (CODM) that some of us have been playing for years. The significant differences are in the mechanics of the game.
As mentioned, Warzone Mobile allows you to respawn through the Gulag or wait for the timer in Resurgence mode. CODM had the dog tag mechanic, but you had to rely on your teammates to respawn. Warzone puts things into your hands for the most part.
The game will also have cross-progression with Modern Warfare III and Warzone on PC and consoles, so your progression on any platform will carry over to the others.
