It's great that Google provides 15GB of free storage across its platforms, such as Google Drive, Photos, and Gmail. But for many, that's simply insufficient cloud storage, so they turn to Google One to buy more. Google makes it super easy to get as much as 2TB of cloud storage through Google One, along with some additional perks.
That list of perks gets even longer because it seems that if you're on certain Google One plans, you will get access to other paid Google services, such as Fitbit Premium and Nest Aware, without needing to pay a dime extra. That's a big upgrade to Google One, and certainly one that looks capable of attracting even more people.
Fitbit Premium And Nest Aware Join The Google One Feature List
Before now, Google One was our way of getting more cloud storage from Google for our Drive and Photos. It's such a great option because it is tied to all your Google services that happen to need cloud storage of any kind, making it a better choice than something like Microsoft's OneDrive. With the recent changes to what Google One includes, it is bound to be an even better deal.
This hasn't been rolled out to all regions or users yet, but we'll look for more info in this regard.
Fitbit Premium
One user on Reddit reported an email from Google informing him that Fitbit Premium, a plan that normally costs $9.99 every month, was now bundled into his Google One plan. For context, the 2TB Google One plan costs the same, so it's a major perk for the people already buying Fitbit Premium on the side.
Fitbit Premium offers many advantages over the free tier. For instance, you can access your daily readiness score, a library of workout videos and audio, sleep score details and your sleep profile, stress management score details, mindfulness sessions, a wellness report, and recipes and meal hacks. Yep, a whole lot. So, if you're fitness-minded, it's a major win.
Suppose you have a 4G LTE version of either Pixel Watch. In that case, you can also get “Safety Signal”, which will give you access to safety features like fall detection, safety check, emergency sharing, and dialing emergency services when you don't happen to have your phone around.
Nest Aware
In addition, you'll also get access to the Nest Aware service, which costs $8 each month. If you have Nest security cameras and other Nest devices at home, you'll be happy to learn that you're getting some additional perks with Google One.
You'll get 30 days of video recording history for events that the cameras catch, as well as intelligent alerts such as recognizing familiar faces, glass breaking, smoke alarms, and carbon monoxide alarms. You'll also get e911, so in the event that you need to call emergency services, your location will be shared with them right away.
How Much Do Google One Plans Cost?
It depends mostly on where you live, but in the United States, it starts at $1.99 monthly for 100GB. Then, you can pay $9.99 for 2TB. For $19.99, you can get the same 2TB of cloud storage, but you'll also get Google's Gemini Advanced in the mix, which is perfect for lovers of AI.
And since WhatsApp backups are no longer free, there's even more incentive for you to jump on a Google One plan.
