This year's Samsung Galaxy S24 lineup included what is likely the hottest buzzword in tech right now: AI. Samsung introduced Galaxy AI, a set of artificial intelligence features baked into its smartphones. The technology's current capabilities are no less than impressive, and it is exciting to see what it will shape into in the future.
Samsung's president, Dr. TM Roh, published an editorial on the Samsung Newsroom outlining the vision for Galaxy AI. The chief believes “AI is the most transformative technology of the century.” The piece also reveals Samsung's plan to make Galaxy AI available on its wearables.
Galaxy AI Is Coming to Samsung’s Wearables

Samsung wants to expand Galaxy AI beyond just smartphones. Roh, in the editorial, says: “We are already planning the next steps for Galaxy AI beyond smartphones — optimizing it for various categories of devices across various services.”
Interestingly, last week saw Samsung adding a few Galaxy AI capabilities to the Galaxy Buds, including real-time Interpretation and multi-lingual Live Translation. This marked the entrance of Galaxy AI into the company's wearable space. While the capabilities are limited, Samsung seems optimistic about the future for now. It will collaborate with “industry-leading AI partners” to enhance its AI technology.
Samsung Smartwatches To Get Better Health-Related Features

Samsung makes some of the best Wear OS smartwatches you can buy. Its recent Galaxy Watch 6 lineup offers plenty of health-focused features, but Galaxy AI could take things to the next level. Hinting the same, TM Roh states, “In the near future, select Galaxy wearables will use AI to enhance digital health and unlock a whole new era of more comprehensive and intelligent health experiences.”
Health tracking is a crucial element of smartwatches. For some people, it’s often a primary reason for choosing them over the ever-classic analog ones. With the assistance of Galaxy AI, Samsung could notch up the game. It could help evolve health-focused features on its smartwatches, bringing enhancements, improved accuracy, or maybe new feature additions.
Samsung's watches could benefit from Galaxy AI in other areas, too, like calls, music, translations, battery optimization, and more.
The company is also venturing into a new wearable category with its upcoming Galaxy Ring. It will be exciting to see whether the Korean tech giant integrates Galaxy AI into the same, unlocking new ways to interact with the smart ring.
AI Is the Future
Samsung is all-in on Galaxy AI, and it would be an essential part of the brand's upcoming products. The president further states, “Again, we’re only getting started. While developing the Galaxy S24 series, we had many ideas and concepts that we wanted to bring to life. Galaxy users will be able to enjoy more Galaxy AI features that build on these ideas and concepts over time as Samsung continuously enhances and grows the mobile AI experience.”
Recently, Meizu, one of China's earliest smartphone makers, announced its surprising exit from the smartphone business to focus solely on AI. This move also underscores the importance of AI. It indeed appears to be the future.
