Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor is proving to be an excellent choice for flagship smartphones in terms of performance and power efficiency and now the chipmaker has announced something called Super Game Resolution which promises to further optimize the mobile gaming experience.
By upscaling games with 1080p graphics to 4K resolution and bringing further improvements to performance and battery life to your mobile gaming session. Qualcomm says that Super Game Resolution (GSR) is a ‘single spatial aware super-resolution technique' for mobile and XR gaming to most GPUs, although as expected it works best on Snapdragon platforms such as Adreno.
How does it work?
- Increase resolutions while maintaining the visual quality of graphics
- Increase frame-rate for smoother gameplay
- Increase battery life by lowering power consumption
- Increase visual fidelity while maintaining framerate
In a nutshell, games with 1080p graphics are upscaled to 4K resolution while 30 FPS titles are bumped up to 60 FPS in order to be even smoother. All while still extending battery life and gameplay time. Users will be able to prioritize whether they want GSR to enhance graphics, FPS rates. or extend battery life, depending on their requirements at the time.
GSR is coming to games such as Call of Duty Warzone, Jade Dynasty: New Fantasy, Return to Empire, Justice Mobile, and Farming Simulator 23 Mobile, all of which are scheduled to launch during 2023.

Just think of all the p2w, clones of other cloned “games” you could play with this technology! Revolutionary!
