It's been a while since Motorola's Razr clamshell series has been in the news, but it seems that a third iteration is on the cards which may actually feature flagship specifications instead of the rather mid-range offering that the Razr 5G (reviewed here) had to make do with. This time around, Motorola is said to be intent on making the Razr 3 a true flagship device that can compete with Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip series on an equal footing.
When you think of a flagship smartphone from 2022 you'll probably expect things like a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, a 120Hz display, up to 12GB of RAM, and 512GB of built-in storage. If so, the XDA-Developer's source offers a level of credibility to that wish list along with the presence of NFC and perhaps UWB (Ultra-Wideband) support.
It seems that the 120Hz display will be an AMOLED panel with FHD resolution and the presence of a punch-hole selfie camera instead of a notch. According to Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants, the main display will be 6.7-inches which is a tidy increase in size over its predecessor.
Nils Ahrensmeier of TechnikNews says that the Razr 3 will feature a 50MP main camera with a 13MP ultra-wide lens and a 32MP selfie camera.
Other than that, there's still a ton of details that are unknown but it's expected that the Razr 3 will be announced during June which should give it a headstart over Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 4. What else would you like to see with Motorola's Razr 3?
